Workflow designer is a pioneering desktop application that revolutionized the way users created and managed workflow applications within JPMorganChase & Co’s Connect enterprise ecosystem. Where previously, each application had to be constructed and configured manually, Workflow Designer made it as easy as drag-and-drop to build even highly complex workflow applications providing exactly what the user required without manual intervention reducing bottlenecks, lost time, and errors.

The problem

Historically, within the Connect enterprise ecosystem, every required task that serviced clients’ needs has an accompanying workflow application that was built bespoke to the needs of that task. This process became tedious and repetitive, bogging down the development teams, and caused bottlenecks within the workflow.

The solution

We approached the users and, after fully understanding their needs by persona creation and shadowing their day-to-day, we created a solution for making the process of manually developing specific workflow applications through a development team unnecessary. This new application allowed credentialed users to construct their own workflows though an innovative visual process that was in line with current Connect design system standards.

With the addition of Form Builder within the Workflow Designer application, the creation of workflows because as simple as drag and drop of what information the application required from the user.

reception & usability testing

We spent multiple iterative rounds refining the experience with hands-on users to craft a product specifically to meet their needs. We collated the qualitative and quantitative feedback and actioned against it.
